Olufemi George, professionally known as Oba Lurge, is a Nigerian songwriter, rapper, and filmmaker born in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom, and raised in Lagos. His creative journey began at St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School, Okokomaiko, where he actively participated in debates and wrote articles, planting the seeds of a multifaceted career. In 2011, he started recording music on Cubase and soon began crafting covers with producer St. Kay. By 2018, he had founded his imprint, Mich Selber Records, earning recognition as one of Africa’s youngest label CEOs. He debuted with "Mich Selber: The Mixtape" in January 2019, followed by "Grammy Dreams" in December, with standout singles like “Carry Go” and “Uncle London” growing his fanbase.
In 2021, Oba Lurge made history as the first Nigerian rapper to sign a one-year distribution deal with Universal Music Nigeria before opting for independent artistry in 2022. That same year, he obtained a diploma in Sound Recording & Design for Film & TV from Ebonylife Creative Academy. His track “Energy,” featuring Iyanya, was featured in the short film "After Party," while his work as boom operator and Foley artist on "The Last Operation" earned him the Best Location Sound award.
Oba Lurge released his debut album, "Noble Notes," in November 2023 and his sophomore effort, "Best Ever," in March 2025. Currently, he is the first and only Nigerian artist signed to JAY-Z’s Roc Nation distribution, working on his third album, "One Lagos Boy," which includes the single “Gone Are The Days” featuring Duncan Mighty. Beyond music, Oba Lurge explores film, tech, fashion, radio, and podcasting.
